Privacy Policy

Bridge HIV at the San Francisco Department of Public Health (“us”, “we”, or “our”) operates BlackBook (the “App”). This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information we gather when you visit our website, as well as some of the steps we take to safeguard it.

Information Collection
When you enroll in the BlackBook study, you will be asked to enter personal information into the app including your full name, contact information, and information related to your sexual health and activities. We will not share any of your personal information beyond our study staff or those who watch over our study to see that we are protecting your rights, keeping you safe, and following the study plan. We will maintain all your information on a secure, encrypted server via a secure, password–protected log–in. Any data from which you can be identified will be securely encrypted in transit to us from the BlackBook App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and will take all reasonable steps to make sure that your data are treated securely.

If you do not want your data shared through this app, you can choose to not participate in the study

Amazon Web Services
BlackBook uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) whose data centers and network architecture are designed for the highest levels of data privacy to meet the requirements of security-sensitive organizations such as ours. Firebase
The App uses Firebase by Google to provide push notifications to users. Some Firebase services process the end users’ personal data to provide their service to ensure message delivery, enable end-user authentication, and other security measures. Matomo
The App uses Matomo to provide us with analytics on app usage. As an analytics software platform, it provides detailed reports on what features are being used in the app, and information pertaining to that usage including how often features are accessed and how long those features are used. Changes to the Privacy Policy
We will periodically review this policy to make sure it is up-to-date. If any changes are made to this policy, we will post a notification on this page of any changes.
